Sponsored Post and Giveaway: Midtown Family Restaurants

I was recently asked to review Midtown Family Restaurant for the Iowa City Moms Blog.  My family and I have driven by the restaurant before but have never had the chance to eat there, so we were really excited to try it out!  And we are glad we did…we were rewarded with great food and a great experience!  We went to the East side location (off of Scott Blvd) and felt right at home there.  The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming; and we were pleasantly surprised to see that there were a variety of customers, ranging from families with young children, to older couples, and everyone in-between! The service was friendly and fast.  In fact, we were very impressed with how quickly our food came, which is extremely important while dining out with a 10 month-old who does NOT like to sit still! For the short time we did wait, our older daughter was entertained by the coloring page and cup FULL of crayons that our waitress brought her!

We went for dinner, but my daughter was very excited to see that they serve breakfast ALL day! She ordered chocolate chip pancakes off the kids’ menu, and they came with 3 good-sized pancakes and a side of bacon, which she substituted for applesauce.  They were AMAZING! Both our girls loved them (ok…my husband and I had some too), and I told my husband that he’s going to have to start bringing some home for me on a regular basis!

My husband ordered the hot beef, and he said it’s the best he’s had in a long time!  I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, which came with a large side of fries, and it was delicious!  I was surprised at how big my sandwich was…I could barely finish it and that’s unusual for this pregnant mama!!  But if you are REALLY hungry, they also offer JUMBO burgers and sandwiches to satisfy a major appetite!

As I mentioned, we were impressed with how quickly our food came, and along with that, how hot and fresh everything was!  We also loved getting fountain-flavored Pepsi (I had Vanilla Pepsi and my husband had Cherry…they also have Chocolate), and our daughter was happy to receive a dum-dum sucker when we left.  Add to that the good-sized portions and reasonable prices, and it equals Midtown Family Restaurant being one of our family’s new favorite restaurants! We are sure to be heading back soon.  In fact, writing this review is making me hungry…so we may be heading there tonight!!
