More Details: Health Fair & Family Day!

We can’t believe our next big event has already arrived!  We were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the crowd at our Mom’s Night Out in June, and we are hoping to see ALL of you again (this time with your families!) THIS Saturday (July 20th) for our Health Fair and Family Day!

{Details}

The Health Fair & Family Day is going to be a fun-filled day for the whole family! There is no entrance fee, and you don’t need a ticket to come.  Just load up the kids and come join us from 11-1 at Morrison Park in Coralville! (If you can’t make it right at 11, no worries. Any time you can come is fine!)

Who/what will be at the Health Fair? 

We are so excited to bring you some of Iowa City’s leading health and wellness experts, ready to answer YOUR questions!  We will have Dr. Ron from Robinson Family Wellness, pediatricians and safety experts from the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, staff members from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics, the amazing staff from the Children’s Center for Therapy in Iowa City, and last but certainly not least our gracious friends at KidSight will be offering FREE eye screenings for each and every child at the fair! (Note: In case you haven’t heard yet, eye screenings are now a requirement for entering Kindergarten in Iowa. So come on out and get it done!)

We are also welcoming some amazing representatives from Arbonne, Advocare and Usborne Books, who will be available with samples and information/products to keep your families healthy and happy this Summer!  Be sure to visit all of these booths as well!

What types of activities will be there for my kids?

While you (the parents, grandparents, etc.) walk around and gather information, samples, etc., we will have LOTS of fun activities to keep your kids busy and entertained! Dana from Sweet Feet Yoga will be offering FREE mini-sessions for the kids (she is AMAZING!). You won’t want to miss this opportunity to see what Sweet Feet Yoga is all about!  After your little yoga session, come on over to the face-painting booth for some more fun! And, sure to be the first thing your kids (especially the boys) notice upon arriving at the Health Fair will be the FIRE TRUCK from the Coralville Fire Department, who will be on hand to share information and safety tips as well!  Oh, and there’s more!  When your kids are covered in face-paint, all stretched out from yoga, and exhausted from climbing on the fire truck, head on over for some yummy (and FREE) treats from The Pink Umbrella Bakery!  And, be sure to stop by the Usborne Books table and let the kids color a picture for the Coloring Contest!  So much fun to be had!

What should we bring?

Basically, you won’t need to bring much more than your family! Tell your friends and neighbors and share it on Facebook/Twitter/etc., because we want as many families as possible to be aware of this event! Bring a stroller or a wagon for the little ones and make a day of it! Once again, there is no entrance fee to this event, and all of the afore-mentioned activities for the kiddos (plus the eye screenings!) are FREE.  You may need an extra bag for all of your samples, though! We are also hoping for a bright, sunny day, so let’s hope we will need to pack some sunscreen, too!  As always, everyone is wondering do I need to bring money? To be honest, you could bring your kids out to this event, enjoy the day, and not spend a dime.  And we would be happy to see you there!  However, at the same time, some of our vendors will have items/products for sale, and we would love it if you supported them if/when possible! We will also have some refreshments for sale (but remember, your treat from The Pink Umbrella is a freebie!).

Why should we come? 

There are SO many reasons you should come! Where to begin? Let us repeat: it’s a fun-filled, FREE event for the entire family!  A chance to get the kids out in the sunshine, enjoy some fun, family-oriented activities, and spend time together!  Just as importantly, this is an opportunity to be face-to-face with some of our area’s leading experts in medicine, healthy living, and overall safety of our children!  Where else can you get the chance to chat with these wonderful people about your children and ask questions about things happening in your home? Plus, if you have 4, 5 or 6 year olds getting ready to head off to Kindergarten next month, you won’t want to miss this opportunity for a free eye screening! One more thing to check off your to-do list!

That being said, the purpose of this event is in line with the mission statement of the Iowa City Moms Blog:  Our mission is to connect local moms (and families) to each other, to local businesses, and to local events.  YOU are the reason for this blog, and that’s why we want to see YOU at Morrison Park on July 20th!  Let’s continue growing this amazing community of moms and families in Iowa City and surrounding communities, and support one another in our efforts to keep our kids happy and healthy!

**Please note: The Coralville Aquatic Center (also located at Morrison Park) opens at noon, so if you are hoping for a good parking spot, try to come before the pool traffic arrives!

We are happy to announce that Running Wild will be joining us at this event, and their staff will be on hand to show you some of their latest and greatest products, as well as giving you a FREE gait analysis, foot measuring, and more!

In addition, we are very excited to welcome Hope Springs Behavioral Consultants to our list of informational booths at the Health Fair. Their staff will be joining us to share amazing information on how to help our children (and our families) happy, stable, and healthy!

Also, as we posted on our Facebook page yesterday, we will have some yummy samples from Crystal Farms Cheese. They are providing us with a taste of their brand new snack products called “Nibblers”. Be sure to stop by our table to try them!  We can’t WAIT to see you this weekend!
