Weekend Wednesday: March 7-9

It’s Wednesday!! We hope you’re having a great week! And if not, rejoice in the fact that it’s half over!  It’s time to start looking forward to the weekend and today we’re sharing our Top 5 Picks of this weekend’s activities in the Corridor.

Friday, March 7th

Disney’s Winnie The Pooh Kids, put on by Playtime Poppy at Linn-Mar High School in Marion.  Showtimes are Thursday and Friday 4:30 and 7:00, Saturday at 2:00 and 4:30.  Cost: $3.  This classic Disney title features 3 new songs from the hit film as well as classic Sherman Brothers songs from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Winnie the Pooh Kids is a story about friendship as Pooh and his fellow friends go on an adventure in search of Christopher Robin.

Scooby Doo Live! Musical Mysteries, 7:00 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre, Cedar Rapids.  SCOOBY-DOO and the Mystery Inc. Gang have been called in to help solve an epic mystery in Cedar Rapids. A trouble-making ghost is haunting a local theater and SHAGGY, FRED, DAPHNE, VELMA and SCOOBY-DOO are on their way in the MYSTERY MACHINE to help solve it! This hilarious live theater show brings everyone’s favorite animated series to life.

Saturday, March 8th

Family Special: Pied Piper Concert with Orchestra Iowa, 10:30-11:00 a.m. at the Iowa City Public Library.  Featuring classical music for children played by a wood wind quintet, this concert is one of the Pied Piper Series and co-sponsored by Orchestra Iowa and the Iowa City Public Library.

American Girl’s Truly Talented You, 1:00 p.m. at the Coral Ridge Mall Barnes and Noble.  Girls ages 8 to 12, join us for a special American Girl Event. Truly Talented You features fun activities, puzzles and crafts inspired by the newest Girl of the Year.

Sunday, March 9th 

Roller Skating at Grant Wood Elementary Gym, 1:00-3:00 at Grant Wood Elementary, Iowa City.  Cost: $1.  Come skate at the Grant Wood Elementary Gym! Family and slow skate is from 1-2pm with fast skate from 2-3pm. Skaters 6th grade and younger must be accompanied by a supervisor of at least 16 years of age. Supervisors can be responsible for up to 3 skaters. Use of skates will require a $1 deposit or approved ID for each pair of skates.
