Saturday, May 3rd
Maifest in the Amana Colonies. Maifest is a celebration of Spring in the Amanas, and takes place on Saturday and Sunday. Activities include a parade at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Maipole dancers, German music, kids’ activities, a community garage sale, and more!
Chalk the Walk, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in Mount Vernon. Over 300 artists will use a downtown city street as canvas. Festival-goers will also be allowed to participate in a mural project, and kids are invited to create their own art in the Kids’ Zone.
Cedar Rapids iExploreSTEM Festival, 1:00-5:00 at Cedar Rapids’ McKinley Middle School. Kids in grades K-8 are invited to participate in a free afternoon of hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Night at the Children’s Museum, Iowa Children’s Museum from 6:00-9:00 p.m. This is a KIDS-ONLY event, for kids ages 4 and up. Your child will have a chance to play at the museum, make crafts, have snacks, and dance the night away! Cost: $20/child, Members receive 10% discount. RSVP required. Check with museum for available spots.
Sunday, May 4th
Foundation 2 FUNdraiser, 5:00 to 8:00 at Planet X Fun Center in Cedar Rapids. $10 gets you UNLIMITED miniature golf, rock climbing, indoor playground, SpaceBall, JumpShot & bumper cars plus unlimited delicious pizza, soda and one game of laser tag. There will also be face painting, balloon twisting, live caricatures and more! Foundation 2 is a not-for-profit human service agency that offers crisis prevention and intervention programs to people of all ages. $5 of the $10 goes DIRECTLY to the organization.
