Friday, July 11th
Heritage Days, July 10th-12th in Mount Vernon. Head to Mount Vernon Thursday through Saturday to enjoy numerous family activities, including Fireworks on Thursday night, carnival rides, and a parade on Saturday morning.
Friday Night Concert Series, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the Ped Mall (downtown Iowa City). Bring your family downtown for a night of great music and fun! This week’s performers will be Beggarmen AND Christopher the Conquered. Rain location: Chauncey Swan parking ramp. Free.
Saturday, July 12th
Blues & BBQ, Noon-10:00 p.m. in Centennial Park, North Liberty. Blues & BBQ features great food and great music, a beverage garden, inflatable rides and a petting zoo for the kids, and finishes off with fireworks on Saturday night.
Messy Science Day, 10:30-Noon at the Iowa City Public Library. Join us on the Pedestrian Mall to play with non-Newtonian fluid, create chalk bombs and Mentos soda rockets among many other messy science activities. It is suggested that children and adults wear old clothes that can get dirty or ruined!
Fantastic Four, sunset on the Pentacrest in Iowa City. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a free movie on the Pentacrest! Movies begin at sunset (between 8:15-9:00) outside of Macbride Hall. Movies are shown every Saturday night throughout the summer. This week’s showing is Fantastic Four, rated PG-13.
