Simplicity Fair, 1:00-4:00 p.m. @ the East Side Recycling Center (2401 Scott Blvd. SE). Celebrate America Recycles Day! Reduce, reuse, recycle, repurpose, repair and share, de-clutter, do-it-yourself and relax: join us for an afternoon of activities, information, simple door prizes and holiday treats…we’ll have a book and media swap, recipe sharing opportunity, children’s story time, “repurpose with a purpose,” Reclaim your Holidays, a wall of environmental action and more! Reduce your plastic bag use with the 100 Grannies for a Livable Future’s pledge and make a reusable bag! Story time will be at 3:00 p.m.

The Fossil Guy, 2:00 p.m. @ Macbride Auditorium. Learn how to be a “Pleistocene private eye”!  A special focus will be placed on the recovery of Ice Age remains of giant ground sloths and mammoths by crews from the UI Museum of Natural History.  See and touch mineralized bones of Ice Age creatures including mammoths, mastodons, cave bears, horses, bison, and deer.  View replica skulls of the saber-tooth cat Smilodon and the dire wolf from the La Brea Tar Pits in California.  Artifacts of Paleoindians will be used to help recreate the Ice Age world of North America.

Sunday, November 15th

The Iowa Children’s Museum’s 15th Birthday Party, 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. @ the Iowa Children’s Museum. You’re invited to the best birthday bash of the year as we celebrate 15 years of the Power of Play. Join us for the birthday shenanigans on Sunday, November 16th including cake and face painting from 12-2 pm, and a balloon drop at 1:50 pm. Enjoy epic party games and birthday karaoke in the theater all day long. The Iowa Children’s Museum needs your help to party like it’s 1999 as we celebrate our 15th Birthday.

R.E.A.D. Dogs, 1:00-3:00 p.m. @ the Coralville Public Library. Elementary students may sign up to read to a licensed therapy dog in the Storytime Room. Call the Children’s Desk (248-1850) or stop by to register starting the Sunday before the event. There is a waiting list, and if you forget to register, you can still check for open time slots that day.

Ben Ulin- The Magician, 2:00 p.m. @ the Old Creamery Theatre. One Show Only! Ben Ulin has worked at Disney, Holland America, and Norwegian Cruise Lines and he has spent 20 years headlining comedy clubs throughout the country. He has been described as “astounding, hilarious, and totally amazing!” The show is family friendly and everyone will be dazzled by magic at the show! If you and your family are looking to be fascinated by the art of illusion look no further than the Old Creamery Theatre! Tickets: $15.
