Each year, the Old Creamery Theatre puts on four shows for children as part of our Theatre for Young Audiences season. In 2015, our shows are The Secret Garden in April, The Reluctant Dragon in June, Pinkalicious in October, and Jingle All The Way! A Christmas Pirate Adventure— a spin off from the How I Became A Pirate Series— in November and December. Tickets are only $10 per person and we often do sell out, so ordering your tickets ahead of time is highly recommended.

 

We also offer Camp Creamery: Theatre Summer Camp for kids! We will hold camp in Cedar Rapids at Wilson Elementary School during the week of August 3 – 7 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Lights, Hollywood, Action! is a week long workshop for children interested in exploring the exciting world of theatre! The camp is designed to give children ages 7 and up the unique opportunity to work and perform with three professional actors from The Old Creamery Theatre while they rehearse and present a play.

 

Now here’s a special little thing you may have never thought of— The Old Creamery Theatre is the perfect place for date night. We offer six main stage shows and four studio stage shows that all make perfect date nights for your special sweetheart or for girls or guys night out! In 2015, on the Main Stage, we have a romantic comedy: The Matchmaker from April 30 to May 21, a mad-cap musical: The Andrews Brothers from June 4 to 28, an ever-changing and award-winning comedy: Shear Madness from July 23 to August 16, life from the big top: Barnum from September 10 to 27, those loveable ladies are back in The Church Basement Ladies in: The Last (Potluck) Supper from October 8 to November 8, and a holiday comedy: Nuncrackers from November 19 to December 20. Also, In 2015 our Studio Stage goes to war! Which means that we are featuring four war-based shows that progress from WWI to WWII: Billy Bishop Goes To War, Heroes, Waiting for the Parade, and Churchill. Also a little known fact, we are a professional theatre. That means that you’re supporting full-time working artists to put food on the table and pay the bills. Everybody who works at the Old Creamery theatre is a paid professional. We’re also a 501(c)3 non-profit theatre which means that your support truly means the world to us! The Old Creamery is proud to be the longest-running professional theatre company in the state of Iowa.
