May is here and that should mean warmer temps are here to stay for awhile. Here are some great events taking place this weekend for you and your family to check out!
Friday, May 1st
Into the Woods. 7:30pm @ the Coralville Center for Performing Arts. City Circle Acting Company is putting on a play at the Coralville Center for Performing Arts. Into the Woods is about following a baker and his wife as they struggle to meet the demands of a vengeful witch so that they may have their hearts’ desire-a child of their own.
Saturday, May 2nd
Chalk the Walk. 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. in Mt. Vernon. Head on over to Mt. Vernon to see artists transform the streets into amazing art pieces. This is definitely a must see, and fun for all ages. There is a kids’ zone where kids can create their own masterpieces using chalk and there is also a music stage which will feature several musicians throughout the weekend. This is a two day festival that will take place on Sunday as well from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. This event is free to the public.
Polly Wobbles Puppets at the Iowa Imagination Station. 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Learn how to make and manipulate a puppet, then help stage Where the Wild Things Are. Participants will make 2 different puppets to take home. Cost is $5.
Amana Maifest Friday-Sunday in the Amana Colonies. A celebration of spring featuring: Maipole dancers, German music, parade, food and activities. Definitely fun for the whole family!
Sunday, May 3rd
Penn Landing Farmer’s Market. 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Penn Landing in North Liberty. It is the first outdoor farmer’s market for North Liberty this season. Come check out the fresh produce, locally grown meat and eggs and ready-to-eat food. Fun for the whole family!
