It is 2016!  Hope all of you enjoyed your holidays and are getting back into the swing of things after kids have been on break.  If you are looking for some fun events, check out my top picks of this weekend’s events in the Corridor!

Weekend Wednesday Top Picks

Saturday, January 9th

Pinocchio 10:30am.  An operatic version by John Davies of the children’s literary classic, PINOCCHIO by Carlo Collodi, based on scenes from operas by W.A. Mozart, G. Donizetti, J. Offenbach, and G.B. Pergolesi; performed by members of Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre’s Young Artist Program.  This event is free and open to the public and is taking place at the Cedar Rapids Library.

Family Storytime at the ICPL 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Designed for the whole family and presented at a time convenient for most working parents, storytime includes both shorter and longer stories combined with action games and activities. Family Storytime is recommended for all ages, but parents are asked to sit with their younger children.

Sunday, January 10th

Open Gym at Borlaug School 1-4pm.  Families can take advantage of the school’s gym and enjoy some family time. Participants will need to provide their own equipment. Organized team practices are not allowed during open gym times. There will be no Open Gym if school is cancelled or let out early, during school breaks or if the date falls on a holiday weekend.

Sunday Funday Sock Snowmen 2-4pm.  Do you have odd socks that are missing a partner? Bring them in to the library today and we’ll turn them in to snowmen! While tube socks work best, any sock will do! Head over to the Iowa City Library for this free family fun.
