Iowa City Moms Blog definitely got an early start to the Easter season this year with our annual SOLD OUT Egg Hunt, which took place on March 5th at the U of I Field House in Iowa City. We were so happy to begin the season of bunnies and eggs and all things pastel-colored with almost 200 kids and their parents! A HUGE thank you goes out to our Co-Host, The Family Dental Center, for your continued support of ICMB and these amazing opportunities for moms in the community to come together with their families. Another HUGE thank you is in order for the lovely ladies of the Tri Delta sorority from the University of Iowa. From Easter bunny costumes, to face-painting, to distributing thousands of eggs across the giant gym floor, thank you ALL for your help in making this event a success!
Location, Location, Location!
We absolutely LOVED hosting this event at the Field House this year! What a great space! In addition to PLENTY of room for our giant egg grab, there was also enough space for the kids to run off some energy while they waited! And, of course, for all of the awesome sponsor booths! Many of us were talking about memories from our college days at the Field House, so it was fun to experience the space with our families! For more information on all of the great programs that the Field House has to offer for families and little ones, check out their website here.
Our Sponsors
As always, what would an egg hunt be without the eggs? GIANT thanks goes out to all of the sponsors who brought eggs filled with goodies, as well as some super fun activities for the kids to participate in. Thanks to the following businesses in our community, the kids were able to enjoy each and every stop on the hunt!
The Family Dental Center
It was another great booth from our friends at The Family Dental Center, if we do say so ourselves! Lots of goodies, information on dental health for kids of all ages, and they even gave the kids some ADORABLE little tooth boxes for all of those lost teeth! Thank you to their amazing staff for always being so friendly and welcoming as our guests enter our events!
Heritage Christian School
Another popular returning booth from last year! The staff at Heritage was on hand to help the kiddos with some super fun Easter-themed crafts, as well as fill their baskets with some more goodie-filled eggs. We love all of their friendly smiles and their patience with the kids as they put together the crafts. If you’re looking for a new school this Fall, be sure to check out their website for more information!
Iowa GymNest
Ever since our Play Hop event at the GymNest last month my kids have been wanting to do gymnastics. Boy, were they happy to see that the GymNest crew had brought some equipment for them to play on! It was so fun watching all of the little ones climb/jump/roll and more! For more information on classes at the Gymnest, click here.
Enrichment Therapy & Learning Center
Another returning favorite, for sure! The sensory table was a definite hit with the little ones, and the staff from Enrichment Therapy & Learning Center were awesome at joining them in playtime! Great news: if you didn’t get enough time to chat with them about all of the amazing services they have to offer, you will be glad to know that one of their therapists will be joining our expert panel at our upcoming Moms Morning Out event (Get details on that HERE)! You won’t want to miss it! (In the meantime, you can visit the Enrichment Therapies website by clicking here.)
Willowwind School
The ladies from Willowwind School brought the coolest pinwheel craft…fun for kids and adults alike! We were so glad to have them at this event…they are so welcoming and kind and are a joy to talk with!! Be sure to check out their website for more information on their Montessori-style preschool and K-6th grade education!!
Iowa Children’s Museum
It probably goes without saying that the Iowa Children’s Museum is a favorite place for MANY of our children in the Corridor community! Special thanks to the ICM for hosting our Play Hop group during the cold winter months, and for the super fun booth at the egg hunt as well. And for so many goodie-filled eggs for the giant egg grab, too!
Tri Delts
More thanks goes to the ladies of the Tri Delta sorority at the University of Iowa. You may have seen them at the sticker/tattoo table, the face-painting table, running around with giant tubs of eggs for the egg grab, or even hanging out with the Easter Bunny. No matter where you saw them, I’m sure they had a smile on their face as they entertained your little ones, and for that we are so extremely grateful! We love working with them every year and are so proud to partner with them for this annual egg hunt!!
The Pink Umbrella Bakery
Hopefully no one left the event without grabbing a cookie (or two!) from the Pink Umbrella Bakery. We are always so happy to have them at our events, with their springtime-colored frosting on the soft, yummy sugar cookies! A perfect treat!
ICMB Contributor Team
A huge shout-out goes out to the lovely ladies of our Iowa City Moms Blog team, who in addition to providing amazing content on our blog, also volunteer to help at all of our large events in the community. From greeting you with a smile at the welcome table, to set-up and clean-up, these ladies are a HUGE part of what we do at ICMB, and we couldn’t do it without them! One of our team members, Nikki, was the one walking around taking photos of the event. You can check out more of her photography at Bravely You Images. Thanks, ladies!
Last, but certainly not least, thank YOU for bringing your families out to spend the morning with us! We hope your kiddos enjoyed all of the activities, and we hope you all went home with baskets FULL of goodies. Hopefully enough for the kids to have some and for mommy and daddy to snag some during naptime, too! Happy Easter everyone! We hope to see you again next year!!
