Pediatric Dentistry: Greg Gilbaugh, DDS
Hello. I am Dr. Greg Gilbaugh. I graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1985, and completed residency training in Advanced General Dentistry in 1986. I founded The Family Dental Center with a desire to bring together a team of highly skilled and caring people that would share in the vision of providing an exceptional dental experience for individuals and their families as well as having a positive impact on our community.
Safety & Injury Prevention: Pam Hoogerwerf, BS
Pam grew up in Iowa and attended the University of Iowa where she became a die-hard Hawkeye on the cheerleading squad. She majored in broadcasting journalism and health promotion but first went to work for United Airlines as a Flight Attendant. Her fiancé and now husband lured her back to Iowa City where she began her career within University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She transitioned over to University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in 2008 where she began her role as Director of Community Outreach and Injury Prevention. She has obtained special certification in injury prevention and is a certified child passenger safety technician. One of the programs she manages is the Safety Store, where customers can obtain assistance with children’s injury prevention products including car seats, BOB strollers, HALO swaddles, cabinet locks and bike helmets. She is passionate about keeping kids safe and enjoys traveling the state promoting messages related to that. She has been married for 31 years and has a 28 year old daughter who recently was married and a 17 year old son so she feels like she has been a mom for a long time. She loves all kinds of fitness and being outdoors.
Financial Planning: Jeff Rudolf, AAMS
Jeff Rudolph is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones and holds an Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation and is a current member of the Iowa City Noon Lions Club. Jeff and his Senior Branch Office Administrator, Temple Hiatt, have been serving the Iowa City area since 2002. They enjoy working with clients who know they need help and value professional advice. Obstetrics & Gynecology: Sarah Shaffer, DO
Dr. Shaffer joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 2015. She received her degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO and completed her residency at St. Vincent Hospitals in Indianapolis. Dr. Shaffer was born and raised in Iowa and is extremely excited to bring her unique training to care for obstetric and gynecology patients in her home state.
High Risk Obstetrics & Gynecology: Andrea Greiner, MD
Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Dr. Greiner is board certified in maternal fetal medicine with University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Her practice includes high-risk obstetrics, prenatal diagnosis, labor and delivery, and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. She finds it very rewarding to help women through a complicated pregnancy and delivery and is drawn to care for these women during what will hopefully be the best day of their lives, their baby’s birthday.
Children’s Therapy: Jennifer Luria, MSW, LISW
Jennifer is a licensed child therapist at the Center for Disabilities and Development at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and in private practice at Hope Springs Behavioral Consultants. She completed her master’s degree in social work at the University of Iowa. She works with children ranging in age from one year old to teenagers. Jennifer provides Parent Child Interaction Therapy, working with parents on strategies for helping their children with behavior concerns. She also provides cognitive behavior therapy to help children with anxiety and depression and is trained to help children who have experienced trauma. Jennifer is the mother of two daughters ages 7 and 16 years old.
Speech-Language Pathology: Sonia Culver, M.A., CCC-SLP
Sonia Culver is a Speech-Language Pathologist and owner of Enrichment Therapy and Learning Center, in Coralville IA. Her passion is to work with kids who have difficulties communicating with others. Whether it be articulation, social skills, comprehension or expressive language; she, and the other speech-language pathologists and learning specialists devoted considerable time in acquiring training for research-proven techniques.
Sonia was originally an SLP in the schools and saw a need for additional services. Like many schools, the resources and qualification criteria were limited, resulting in many kids “falling through the cracks.” This is why Sonia started Enrichment TLC. They now service kids and students from birth through early adulthood. They are experienced in working with students who have a variety of diagnosis; everything from a minor articulation delay, to apraxia of speech, reading delays, comprehension, ADD/ADHD, Autism, and language impairments. Sonia and her team have recently started a half-day and full-day academic program for kids who struggle in school. They act as a bridge, to help kids who are struggling, form foundational skills that are needed for academic success.
Pediatrics: Meredith Fishbane-Gordon, MD
Dr. Fishbane-Gordon is a pediatrician at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. She attended the University of Chicago for medical school and trained at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for her pediatrics residency. She worked in a large private practice outside of Boston for seven years before relocating with her family to Iowa City in 2014. Outside of work, she loves gardening and spending time with her husband and two little girls, ages 3 and 5.
Chiropractic: Mohamed Karim, D.C., B.A.
Dr. Karim is originally from Coralville, Iowa. He attended West High School, graduating in 2003. Shortly after enrolling in his undergraduate studies in 2004 Dr. Karim became an active member of the Coralville Fire Department and still presently volunteers. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in 2008. It was during this time Dr. Karim knew his true passion was for Chiropractic care. Previously being a patient under care he experienced the healing effects Chiropractic has to offer. Dr. Karim wants to share this experience and life changing profession with others. This led him to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Dr karim was actively involved at Palmer College and was nominated for the Clinical Excellence Award due to mastering several chiropractic techniques and exceptional doctor-patient interaction. On October 19, 2012 he graduated with his Doctorate in Chiropractic. Dr. Karim strongly believes in overall health. He enjoys sports and regularly working out. He chose his chiropractic office in North Liberty to conveniently be located next to Core Fitness Gym and Digital Bind. Both of these businesses works closely with Dr. Karim’s office. Family and Sport Chiropractic is also close to Dr. Karim’s family, which is of great importance to him. Dr. Karim’s goal is to serve the surrounding Iowa community to the best of his ability. His first priority is and will always be helping people. He plans to achieve this goal one patient at a time by giving the best chiropractic care available.
Midwifery: Jaci Roman, CNM
Jaci Roman received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 2016. Jaci loves being a midwife because she is able to offer women choices related to their care and birth experience. In addition, she loves ensuring that women have knowledge of their bodies so that they can be the healthiest version of themselves both during pregnancy and throughout their lifetime.
