Last week, we hosted our first ICMB Sip+Style moms’ night out. ICMB will begin offering these more regularly, so stay tuned! While each of our upcoming Sip+Style events will be unique, they will all offer delicious food, great drinks, and an opportunity to show off your creativity while making new friends!
Thank you to everyone who attended our first Sip+Style – Breakfast for Supper moms’ night out. We had forty moms gather at Bella Vida in Coralville. We enjoyed brunch-inspired appetizers and cocktails while creating one-of-a-kind serving trays (perfect for having your partner or children serve you breakfast in bed).
THE CRAFT
We offered two ticket options for this event. The first option was for a rectangular tray that could be embellished with a variety of generic kitchen-themed vinyl decals provided by Vanilla Beans and Daydreams. The second option was for a round serving tray that included a personalized decal with the guest’s last name. As the guests arrived, they chose their paint/stain color(s), as well as any decal. The options provided meant that no two trays were the same! It was incredible to see everyone’s personal style in their completed piece.
THE DRINKS
What is brunch without a mimosa? In addition to offering both a cocktail and mocktail blend of mimosas, there were three fresh syrups to customize your drink. Blackberry, strawberry, and mango syrups all paired perfectly with the mimosas and allowed each guest to customize their own beverage.
THE FOOD
The highlight of the night was, without a doubt, the show-stopping donut wall! Hy-Vee just released their new fresh fried donuts, and we had the opportunity to try out a variety of flavors early, thanks to Hy-Vee 1st Ave in Iowa City.
Not only did they provide us with all these amazing donuts, they also want to give one of you a dozen donuts for free! (See the end of this post for details on how to enter.)
Hy-Vee also provided their incredible breakfast pizza. Additionally, we offered brown sugar peppered bacon skewers and yogurt with fruit and vanilla honey granola.
We knew the donuts would be a hit, but I had no idea the granola would be as popular as it was! So, as promised, here is the recipe for this simple and sweet granola.
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Whisk egg whites until frothy. Mix in honey, oil, sugar, vanilla, and salt. After blended, pour over oats and fold until combined. Spread mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment or a silicone mat. Bake at 325 for 10 minutes. Using a wooden spoon or spatula mix granola around for even cooking. Continue to bake for 10 more minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. If want small pieces of granola then stir the mix to break apart while cooling. Letting it cool without mixing it will result in granola clusters.
