September Mom Talk: Precious Cargo: Keeping Your Kids Safe in the Car

Our Host

We are so grateful to the staff at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital Safety Store for hosting our first Mom Talk event. entitled “Precious Cargo: Keeping Your Kids Safe in the Car”.  Their wealth of knowledge on all things safety, and in this case car seat safety in particular, never cease to amaze us, and we all learned so much.  I truly believe that every single mom who attended this event went home and double checked the car seat situation in their vehicle(s).

Pamela Hoogerwerf, Lauren O’Donnell and Brenda Toribio are all child passenger safety experts, and each of them shared a different, yet equally important, topic regarding passenger safety in our vehicles.  We learned all about the right seats, the right positioning, and the safest practices for each age, and they also brought along a fun “true/false” game to keep us on our toes while they shared the information.

::IMPORTANT NOTE:: The Safety Store is offering FREE Child Safety Seat Checks TOMORROW evening (6-8PM) at the Iowa River Landing location (105 E. 9th Street in Coralville).  This is a FREE event and registration is not required; please bring your vehicle, your child(ren) and your car seat(s) for the check.

A born-and-raised Iowan, Sara received both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees (in Spanish Literature) from the University of Iowa.
