Cake Mix Cookies : A Simple Kid-Friendly Recipe

Before my daughters were born, I dreamed the kitchen would be the focal point of our home. My little darlings would gather ’round the mixing bowl with pure excitement on their faces, as they graciously and gently took turns helping to carry out the recipe set forth. As my oldest reached toddlerhood, those dreams became a reality. Messier than I pictured, but a reality all the same.

My oldest and I have made several time-consuming recipes together. Everything from homemade pasta noodles to cakes, and everything in between. Fast forward a few years and those time-consuming recipes are few and far between. With two small children who love to help but don’t love to take turns, it can make creating food a disaster.

So I made it my mission to find simple, kid-friendly recipes that we can make together. Insert: Cake Mix Cookies. I love these cookies, because I can create several different types of cookies in one batch by using multiple toppings. My go-to is a white cake mix, because I can dress up the cookies with a little food coloring too!

How do we make these simple, kid-friendly cookies? I am glad you asked! I have inserted the recipe card below. This simple recipe will give everyone a chance to help, while accommodating those short attention spans! Happy Baking!
