Local Moms Who Lead: Sue Dvorsky (Video Interview)

We’re excited to share the first episode of our Local Moms Who Lead video series! Our first guest is Sue Dvorsky. Sue is a fixture in the Iowa City community. She spent 36 years as a Special Education teacher at South East Jr. High, and although she has retired from teaching, she continues to serve as a sub throughout the Iowa City Community School District.

In addition to her teaching career, Sue is a longtime leader/activist in state and local politics. She is the former Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party and has served as a campaign manager and volunteer on local political campaigns. In the winter of 2019, Sue will serve as a Resident Fellow at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics. Sue is the wife of newly retired Senator Bob Dvorsky and the mom of two adult daughters, Annie and Caroline.

In this video Sue shares her wisdom and experience on topics such as:

  • How women and moms of all ages are changing the face of leadership
  • How parenting changes as your kids get older (6:35)
  • Work/life “balance” (8:35)

We hope you enjoy the first episode of our Local Moms Who Lead series!
