You want to sell your house, and you want to sell it fast. So how can it be done without spending a bunch of money on home improvements and staging? Try these 5 tips from a local Iowa City area real estate expert, and you’ll be on your way to signing those papers in no time!
5 No-Cost Tricks to Sell Your House Faster in the Iowa City Area
Tip #1. Declutter
Spring is a great time to unpack all of the things you still haven’t unpacked from your last move. Go through old clothes and donate them to Goodwill or have a garage sale. Take one room at a time so it doesn’t become overwhelming. You don’t have to do everything at once.
Tip #2. Rearrange the furniture
People often yearn for change, but that doesn’t always mean you have to spend a bunch of money. Utilize what you already have and move it around. Hang up some different pictures or buy some smaller end tables or “knick-knacks” to accessorize what you already own.
Tip #3. Clean, Clean, Clean
After winter, salt, sand, and dirt find their way to taking over your garage. Get everything up and out and start fresh. When the weather is nice, open windows and doors and let your home breathe after being cooped up for so long. Get in one real deep cleaning to start off before spring and summer activities take over your world.
Tip #4. Set the Table
Even if you are not hosting, set the table for dinner. Get out the plates, silverware, and settings that you don’t use year-round. This is another way to “stage” your home with items you already have and not spend any money.
Tip #5. Bring the Outside In
Modern homes have rooms that don’t have to conform to traditional standards, whether it’s a living room or family room, or even your master bedroom. Throw a few things in to make it less formal and more of relaxing lounge space. When people think of outdoor spaces they think of being functional and relaxing. Not everything has to match. Have fun with it.
It can be as easy as that! With these simple tricks, you can set your house up to look its best without breaking the bank!
