Curtain Call: School Theatre Productions in the Iowa City Area

With the onset of spring comes the area senior/junior high school theatrical performances! Because my children are still preschool and elementary age, I always feel out of the loop with what’s happening at the junior and senior high schools, and we have a tendency to miss the spring plays. Not this year! Here is a run down of the area’s school theatre productions.

What: The Wild, Wild, Wildest West

Who: South East Junior High School

Tickets: Students $4, adults $5; available at the door


What: Freaky Friday: A New Musical

Who: Clear Creek Amana High School

Friday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.

Tickets: Students $5, adults $10; general admission seating


What: Legally Blonde: The Musical

Who: Liberty High School

Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m.
Friday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.

Tickets: on sale March 13th in the office or at the door; general admission seating

Tickets: Tickets can be purchased in the main office during business hours or 30 minutes prior to each show.


What: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Who: Northwest Junior High School

Friday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 13 at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets: Adults $10, students $5; ticket sales start April 3rd and are available at the main office 8:00am-4:15pm.


What: Canterville Ghost

Who: West Branch High School

When:
Friday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets: $7; a group of 10 or more students, who reserve a bank of seats for the same performance can get tickets for $4.50 each.

Tickets can be bought at the West Branch High School office during the hours of 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A group, or individual may also call the West Branch High School Office and reserve tickets. The phone number is 319-643-7216. Tickets can also be purchased at the ticket window the night or day of each performance.

Who: Prairie High School

Saturday, May 11 at 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.

Tickets: Adults $8, students $5; general admission at the door

Please note: The High School building is under construction. It’s probably best to arrive early and park in the BACK of the High School by the District Office. This is a temporary situation for this year.

Becky is a Minnesota Native and Wisconsin Badger fan living in the heart of Hawkeye Country. Since graduating from high school, she has lived in Duluth, MN; Birmingham, UK; Minneapolis, MN; Louisville, KY; and Madison, WI, but is now happy to call Iowa City home.
