6th Annual Easter Egg Hunt {Re Cap}

This annual event has become a staple for young families in the Iowa City area and we absolutely love it!  The 6th annual ICMB Easter Egg Hunt was a sold out event and hundreds of families gathered to celebrate Easter with festive games, activities, crafts and treats for the kids to enjoy.

Venue

With Iowa’s unpredictable weather and our seemingly never-ending winter we are always grateful that this event is entirely INDOORS! We were thrilled to be back at UI Field House again this year.  Of course, the highlight of the event is our epic EGG GRAB where we cover the gym floor with over 5,000 eggs and countdown for one big scramble.  Every child left with a bag full of eggs and a big ol’ smile!

Co-Host Sponsor

The Bails Team

This event was sponsored in part by The Bails Team at Urban Acres Real Estate and they get a big heartfelt thank you for going above and beyond by also providing every child with a bright and fun orange tote bag to use at the Egg Hunt!

The Bails Team has a heart for our community and we always enjoy partnering with them. If you or someone you know is looking to buy or sell a home this spring, be sure you give them a call.  This real estate team includes Mike Bails, Phil O’Brien, Marcy Willier, Chelsey Riggan and Briley McAtee. Together, they have over 50 years of combined experience and a deep understanding of the entire residential and commercial real estate picture in the Iowa City area – it’s what they like to call a panoramic view of real estate.

Activity Booths

Montessori School of Iowa City

We love seeing our friends from the Montessori School of Iowa City, and they always have the BEST activities for the kids at our events!  This time around, the little ones enjoyed drawing some festive spring images with their big stencils and some fun temporary tattoos! The Montessori School of Iowa City provides a private Montessori education for students ages 2-6 (Before School and After School child care also available). They are currently accepting enrollments for Summer and the 2019-2020 School Year here

CHOMP Delivery Service

Our pals at CHOMP are the go-to for food delivery from all of our favorite local restaurants we are always excited to partner and share discounts and deals with local parents! Their “spin the wheel” game was quite the hit with the kids at the Egg Hunt and they had a huge variety of fun prizes! If you’re not sure what’s for dinner tonight, they have you covered!

Funny Nuggets

Funny Nuggets had the kids giggling at the Egg Hunt! This comedy clubhouse for kids brings their unique, interactive program and entertaining staff into existing facilities to put on a pop-up comedy experience for kids while giving parents a break!  The Funny Nuggets crew had a fun Bunny Mask craft for the children to enjoy at our event but that giant chicken was a hit, too!

Hope Family Chiropractic

Dr. Laura from Hope Family Chiropractic kept the kids entertained with a fun cup stacking challenge while parents enjoyed a free spinal scan.  If you’re looking to heal the body naturally and improve your quality of life with chiropractic care, check out their website!

Enrichment Therapies

The team from Enrichment Therapies & Learning Center joined us with more incredible information and a giant felt Easter Egg that the kids had a blast decorating over and over! If you’re looking for a way to help your child achieve effective communication skills and academic success then Enrichment Therapies is the place to call! They offer free screenings and an incredibly knowledgeable staff in their North Liberty location. Summer programs are also open for enrollment now.

ImOn

The friendly staff from ImOn were first-timers at the Egg Hunt this year, and we LOVED having them! ImOn provides high-speed Internet, cable TV and phone service to families in Cedar Rapids, Marion and Hiawatha.  They also provide businesses in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City with advanced communication solutions to help keep their businesses connected locally and beyond.

And in case you hadn’t heard yet, ImOn is excited to announce that they are bringing residential internet to Coralville and Iowa City in the Fall of 2019!  We are thrilled to partner with this community-focused, locally-based business, and we highly recommend that you check them out when the time comes.  In the meantime, be sure to follow them on Facebook to see what they’re up to!

Safety Store

Our pals from The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital Safety Store joined us with a wealth of information (as always) and a fun activity to keep the kids occupied.  We’ve said before and we will continue to say it: the Safety Store is a hidden gem in our community, and if you haven’t been there, you NEED to go.  Their store not only has the latest and greatest in safety products for children of all ages, but they offer many of the products at a FRACTION of the cost you’ll find them somewhere else!

Prairie Green School

Prairie Green School was definitely one of the most popular booths at the event, and we were NOT surprised! The Prairie Green staff teach their students according to student readiness and interest, with a large emphasis on nature-based play and learning.  Everywhere we’ve seen them, the kids naturally just gravitate toward their fun, creative activities.

If you are currently looking for early childhood and/or elementary school for your family, be sure to set up a time to go and visit Prairie Green.  You can also follow them on Facebook to see what they’re up to!

Performing Arts Preschool at Nolte Academy

We’re sure by now you’ve heard of the amazing Performing Arts Preschool at Nolte Academy, but we just want to encourage you once again to go and check them out. Conveniently located on the Coralville strip, the Performing Arts Preschool strives to foster academic readiness and to honor creative abilities through a deeply enriching fine arts curriculum.  Be sure to follow them on Facebook to stay up to date on all of the awesome things they’re doing!

The Pink Umbrella Bakery

It wouldn’t be an ICMB Egg Hunt without the delicious Easter egg cookies from The Pink Umbrella Bakery! We are so grateful to Heather for always providing her famous cookies for each and every kiddo at this event.  If you’re wondering how to get your hands on some more, be sure to follow her on Facebook and check out all of the locations in the corridor where you can find them!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to all of you who came out and spent the morning with us.  It was so much fun to see all of your little ones running around the room with their baskets, and we hope you had a blast.  We look forward to seeing you at our other family-friendly events this year, so stay tuned to the blog and our Facebook page for updates and announcements!  FOR THE MOMS: our 3rd annual “Dinner with Mom” event is coming up next Friday, May 10th, and we would LOVE to see you there!  For more information, and to grab your tickets while you still can (ticket sales end Sunday!), click here!
