Calling all 80’s kids! Looking for something fun, educational, and FREE to do with your kids? Look no further!
It’s time to take a cruise to Cedar Rapids, because the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library not only celebrates Czech and Slovak life but also has exhibitions and experiences year round that can provide a stimulating and thrilling experience for the whole family. Add this little trip to your to-do list and you won’t regret it, but especially DO NOT miss this Summer Family FREE day coming up on Saturday, July 27.
Dig into your own childhood memories and enjoy a full day of 80’s themed family-friendly activities, tasty food, and music with free admission for the whole family to the NCSML’s exhibit galleries.
You’ll have a gnarly time!
Special Activities
You’ll get to participate in a community art project by spray painting on the replica Berlin Wall with local artist Thomas Agran and make your own masterpiece with chalk spray paint across the sidewalks! Cheer each other on as you attempt the spy training obstacle course and eventually take down the Berlin Wall to earn your very own spy badge! Make your own Marionette puppet and play some of the original Donkey Kong that came out in 1981 (can we all agree that DK was the best game ever?!). Plus, enjoy face-painting, balloon artists, and a great discount on membership to the museum.
So go ahead, mark your calendars for the Summer Family Free Day from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the NCSML, and tell Alexa to play some 80’s music because it’s time your kids had a little lesson in history. Get directions here. We hope to see you there!
