Valentine’s Day is a popular topic in our house. Mostly because my girls love any excuse to craft their little hearts out! They always head straight for our recycling bin in search of items that will bring their creations to life. Since toilet paper rolls are always in supply, I have found them to be the perfect crafting item.
Here are my top five Valentine’s Day crafts using toilet paper rolls.
Treat Poppers
Supplies
- Tissue paper
- Toilet paper roll
- Tape
- Scissors
- String/yarn
- Treats/candy
- Stickers
Steps
- Fold one sheet of tissue paper in half lengthwise. Place the toilet paper roll in the center of the paper and tape it in place. Roll the toilet paper roll up and tape it closed.
2. Tie one end with string/yarn. Add the treats/candy to the open end of the popper.
3. Tie the other end of the popper and decorate with stickers. Cut the extra tissue paper from each end of the popper and voila — A Valentine’s Day surprise!

2. Place the toilet paper roll length wise, on one of the half sheets of construction paper. Use tape to secure it in place.

7. Tape string to the top inside of the toilet paper roll.
Valentine’s Day Lips
I was attempting to shape a paper towel roll into a heart when my oldest daughter noticed it looked like lips and was amazed. So, I nixed my original plan in favor of some fun Valentine’s Day lip painting.
Supplies
- Paint (we used acrylic)
- Paper towel/toilet paper roll
- Construction paper
Steps
1. Press the top of the paper towel roll down. Creating a crease on one side of the paper towel roll.
2. Push on the creased part of the paper towel roll to create a lip shape.
3. Place one end in paint and decorate the construction paper.
My little artists loved decorating our fridge with these Valentine’s creations!
