ICM Contributors Respond to “Ten Things You Don’t Like List”

We’ve all seen this list going around, right? The “Ten Things You Don’t Like That Everyone Else Seems to Love” list on social media. I asked our Iowa City Moms contributors to share their lists so we can see what we all have in common and how we differ.

10 things I don’t like (that others probably do, for the most part):

1. Wine
2. Beer
3. Small talk/talking on the phone
4. Beach vacations
5. Bright, sunny, cloudless skies
6. People who don’t acknowledge you after you hold a door open for them
7. Large crowds of people
8. Competition
9. Gift exchanges that involve stealing
10. Driving

10 things I don’t like that everyone else seems to enjoy:

1. Tea
2. Sweet potatoes
3. Chalk
4. Concerts
5. Cooking
6. Playing with my kids
7. Crafting
8. Being the center of attention
9. Large gatherings of people

1. Pumpkin flavored items
2. Mint and chocolate together
3. Sports 
4. Scary movies
5. Anything other than black coffee

7. Dancing unless choreographed
8. IPAs and shots – *vomit*

3. Reality shows (Real Housewives, Bachelor)
4. Smart speakers (Alexa)
5. Sun bathing

7. Comedy where the joke is that a man is wearing a dress

9. Beyonce (I’M SORRY. I’m sure she is a lovely person. I’m just not into her music)
10. Instagram (I really tried to get into it; I just find it… boring?)

5. The phrase “hack” as in “life hack,” or “kitchen hack”
6. Strolling (can we please just get there already?)
7. Hallmark Christmas movies
8. Disney—Disneyland, Disney characters, Disney princesses, Disney cultural misappropriation, Wearing Disney apparel over the age of 8…
9. Festivals, street fairs, and carnivals
10. White chocolate

Things I don’t like that others do.

1. Beer

5. Trashy romance novels
6. Pie. (I don’t like pie crust. I never have).
7. This goes along with scary movies, but haunted houses.
8. Eggs (I only like them scrambled)
9. Peeps
10. Crafting and scrap booking. I am not creative enough.
