A sure sign of summer — Iowa City area farmers markets have returned!

Iowa City is home to a bustling downtown market, but many nearby and smaller towns feature charming farmers markets of their own. You could shop a farmers market practically every night of the week and discover locally-grown produce, meats, wine, honey, arts and crafts, jewelry, baked goods, herbs, flowers, and more all at Iowa City area farmers markets.

Iowa City

  • May – October
  • Saturdays, 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • No longer offering Wednesday evening markets
  • Lower level Chauncey Swan parking ramp, 405 E. Washington St

Credit cards are encouraged, though cash will also be accepted, and EBT and WIC Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program vouchers are accepted at this market as well. No pets. The City of Iowa City asks if you are feeling unwell to stay home.

  • May 18- Oct. 15
  • Wednesday, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Iowa River Landing

The ringing of a bell opens each week of the Coralville Farmer’s Market, set to have its second full season at its new location in the Iowa River Landing. This market participates in the WIC Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. More information is available on the Iowa River Landing website.

Cedar Rapids

  • Kickoff May 28
  • Saturdays 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Third and Fourth Avenues, Second, Third and Fifth Streets SE as well as Greene Square Park

The Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmers Market has become one of the largest open-air markets in the Midwest; Pets are allowed. The market also has carts that are free to use at the market!

  • Tuesdays 4 to 6 p.m.
  • Mushroom Park (off Main Street)
  • 3-6 weekly vendors with room for more; honey and fresh produce!

Swisher will hold a market this summer beginning in June. Check their Facebook page for updates.

West Branch

Year-round market: inside West Branch Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month November through April; outdoors in Heritage Square from 4 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday from early May to early October

West Liberty

Typically held on Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. in the 200 block of Spencer Street, West Liberty has not yet announced their plans for summer 2022. Check their Facebook page for updates.
