Enjoy a Night Out to Help Local Kids Do What They Love

There are many children in our community that cannot pursue their passions.

Let that sink in for a second.

There are kids in Johnson County that are absolutely meant to dribble a basketball, strum a guitar, or lace up a dance shoe — but they can’t because they don’t have the financial resources to participate.

That’s where HAVlife Johnson County comes in. Our organization works to Prevent Lost Potential™  by ensuring youth across the Iowa City area, in Johnson County specifically, have access to athletics, arts, and music. We do this by granting funds to local organizations that align with our mission.

You can help advance this mission by attending the HAVlife Johnson County Martini Shake Off at the new Courtyard overlooking Kinnick Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022.

Since 2016, HAVlife, a non-profit organization that is entirely volunteer-operated, has awarded more than $300,000 to 40 Johnson County nonprofits. These include, but are not limited to, the Iowa City Community School District Foundation, Girls on the Run, Iowa City UNESCO, Kickers, Courage League Sports, Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County, and more.

If this mission speaks to you, there is an easy way you can help — while having a little fun, too.

Attend the HAVlife Martini Shake Off Fundraiser

The HAVlife Martini Shake Off is our largest fundraiser of the year. It helps fund the granting cycles for the next school year for the many non-profits that need our help to ensure all kids in our community can play, practice, and learn.

On Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 6-9 p.m., enjoy a breathtaking view of Kinnick while sipping upscale martinis mixed by local establishments, sampling hors d’oeuvres, and bidding on unique experiences ― all from the top floor of the Iowa City Marriott Courtyard. You do not have to have an event ticket to participate in the silent auction, bidding is all done online via text message. You must register to participate.
