Camp at Big Picture is relaxing, creative and so much fun. Our camps are media based and your child will learn proper techniques and processes for working with the designated media. We used a project based approach and students will produce beautiful pieces to take home! Our staff is excited to inspire campers this summer!

Willowwind’s 2023 Summer Program is packed with a wide range of exciting, hands-on experiences for students. Choose from an array of unique and captivating themes like fine arts, athletics, STEM, and outdoor adventure! Classes are organized into four multi-age groups: preschool (ages 3-5), kindergarten, first-second grade, and third-sixth grade.

Small class sizes ensure students receive individual attention and can take an active role in their summer adventure. Be on the lookout for new classes such as StoryboardTHAT! and Colors, Colors Everywhere. Get excited about old favorites like Trails and Creeks and Myth Busters. Willowwind’s a la carte class menu allows you to craft a summer schedule that best suits the needs and interests of your student. Finally, Willowwind’s fun learning environment provides students with the opportunity to grow and learn socially, emotionally, and academically.

The Junior Scholars Academy program is designed to challenge students in their areas of interest and strength. Students explore a single advanced level topic for the entire week. Class sizes are small, and they take place on the University of Iowa campus, giving your child access to valuable university resources and experts.

When school is out, it’s time to play! Camps at The Iowa Children’s Museum are designed to nurture a love of learning through interactive activities led by skilled museum educators. With a range of themes to choose from, there’s something for every child’s interests. Our first three sessions are for elementary-aged children, with topics ranging from art to technology. We also have two “kinder camps” specifically designed to help children ages 4 and 5 get ready for Kindergarten. All of our camps include playtime in our exhibits.

Convenient registration options make it easy to give your child a break filled with fun, educational activities. Camps are $175 for four days of programming in our museum exhibits and classroom space. Members receive a 10% discount!

Unitarian Universalist Society is so excited to offer their first ever summer program at their Coralville campus in 2023!

Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media & Cartoons.

The sessions will feature step-by-step instruction in art skills from basic to advanced. Topics include understanding two and three-dimensions, the golden ratio, landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and composition. Media will include oil pastels, conte, chalk, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencils, drawing pencils, wire, styrofoams and clay. Additional lesson plans may vary depending upon the needs and interests of the students.
