Looking for something fun and easy to keep the kids happy and busy inside on rainy or cold days? Try making your own playdough. It’s fun to make together and your kids can then enjoy it on their own. My kids swear this homemade playdough recipe is better than store bought. Their favorite things about it? It lasts longer, stays soft and malleable, makes a lot, and you get to choose any color you want.

- Put all ingredients except food coloring into a medium size pot.
- Cook over a medium to medium low heat, stirring together ingredients until they start to bubble and come together. This should take just a few minutes.
- When the mixture looks like playdough consistency, remove it from the heat and allow to cool until it can be handled, but is still warm.
- Add gel food coloring and mix by hand until color is spread evenly throughout. This is my daughter's favorite part to help with! You can separate the dough to make multiple colors or use all the dough for one color.
- Store in a Ziplock bag or air tight container.
So you can see approximately how much this makes, my seven-year-old is holding a full batch of this homemade playdough in her hands after mixing in the gel food coloring.
