Circle One: We’re Having A (Boy/Girl)

When we found out I was expecting again my husband and I began discussing whether or not we would find out the gender of our baby.  With our first baby we decided to be surprised and chose not to find out.  In fact, when she was born, the doctor didn’t even announce boy/girl.  My husband was the one to tell me! The doctor said so many people find out these days, that he just assumed we already knew! With our second we chose to find out. We had our ultrasound right before Christmas, so we surprised our family and did a fun gender reveal on Christmas day.  We already have 2 girls, so I told my husband it was up to him whether he wanted to find out early or not! He decided he wanted to know, so I started thinking of how we should find out.  It was so great to be surprised with our first, and we had a really special gender reveal for our second, so I didn’t want to just find out at the ultrasound…I wanted to do something special! Enter Molly’s Cupcakes.  My oldest daughter and I love Molly’s, so we thought it would be perfect to have them do our gender reveal!  After I scheduled my 20-week ultrasound I found out Josh’s sister and her family (who live in Kansas) were going to be back visiting the same week as my ultrasound! So we decided to have a little gender reveal party and have our family all find out together!

We went to the ultrasound on Thursday evening and had the ultrasound tech write our baby’s gender on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope.  Man, was it hard not to peek at the screen or open the envelope after it was sealed!  We dropped the envelope off downtown at Molly’s and waited in anticipation until the next day, when our family was coming.  On Friday I picked up the cupcakes and by sheer willpower I made it home without biting into one!! The kids helped me decorate and we got everything ready for the party. I waited until the last second to put the cupcakes out…the last thing we needed was an excited kiddo sneaking a cupcake before it was time!! 

My husband, oldest daughter, and I counted to 3 and took a bite.  This is what we found inside….

WE’RE HAVING A BOY!!!  To say we’re excited is an understatement…

We can’t wait to meet baby BOY Swaim in a few short months! We loved using cupcakes for our gender reveal…it made the whole revealing process a ton of fun.  And EVERYBODY raved about how good they were!!
