Feeling Uninspired?

I wake up every morning at the same time, tug on my sports bra and shorts, lace up my shoes and head out. My brain is as clear as the crisp morning air, and for one glorious hour it’s just me and my thoughts.

During that time I write blog posts in my head, dream up ad campaigns and special events for work, and let the creative juices flow. They swirl around me as I speed up and slow down, winding through the trails.

Then my blissful hour is done, and I’m left with the morning rush.

Rush to get dressed.

Rush to get kids dressed.

Rush to get breakfast.

Rush to load the car.

Rush back up the stairs to grab the ten things I have forgotten.

Rush to preschool.

Rush to work.

In the midst of all this rushing, those creative juices that were once flowing only an hour ago dry up. Sucked away, and all that’s left behind are the multitudes of To Do lists running through my head.

Where did my creativity go? And how can I get it back?

CS Bloom GraphicLast year, I participated in Creative Soul., a creative retreat that inspires through writing and creating.

The event took place in Chicago and I along with other creative women wrote our hearts out, we painted our dreams, we created friendships and found that inspiration that seems to be lacking during the day-to-day grind.

This summer, Creative Soul is coming to Iowa City!

Instead of traveling four hours I’ll only have to travel four miles to the Big White House in Coralville to create and be inspired.
