Review: The Woodlands Resort

As the temperatures start to drop here in Iowa, I’m sure plenty of us are dreaming of sunshine and warm days.  How many of you are lucky enough to take family vacations to places a bit warmer than home?  For our family, it’s our annual trip to Texas to visit my husband’s family.  The temps are always warmer than here at home, and the kids are always so excited to pull out the shorts and short sleeves!

As much as I love our family vacations (minus the 14 hour drive with three kids), I must admit, I was VERY excited when the City Moms Blog Network announced that they would be hosting our very first Sister Site Conference in Houston this September!  Not only another trip to Texas, but this time a SOLO trip!  I signed on to lead the planning committee, and as the details came together, September just couldn’t come fast enough.  One of my favorite parts? The venue! Today I’m here to tell you about the amazing, beautiful, newly-remodeled Woodlands Resort!

As soon as we knew the location of the Sister Site Conference, I started stalking The Woodlands online.  This little treasure of a town is located on the northernmost part of Houston, and it truly is beautiful.  Tree-lined streets, quaint little shops, and this amazing resort, where we would be staying!  With a ginormous convention center on site, this place was everything we needed, not only for sessions and meetings, but for relaxing and having fun, which we were all ready to do!

I can’t say enough about the service, either.  Those people didn’t miss a beat!  Yummy chocolates in our rooms upon arrival, curbside service, and golf carts ready and waiting for us 24-7 to take us from one spot to the next.  I heard many of the moms commenting about how they would be missing all of this spoiling when they got home!

So, if any of you are headed to the Lonestar State this winter (or anytime!), consider Houston for a visit, and in particular consider the Woodlands.  You will be so glad that you did!  Whether you are on a girls trip like we were, a couples trip with your hubby, or even a family vacation, this place is sure to impress.  Just check this out:  they show family-friendly movies outside, where you can watch FROM the pool, and they serve s’mores every. night.  Enough said! Check out the Woodlands, and if you know anyone headed to Texas this year, tell them to do the same!
