St. Patrick’s Day Handprint Craft

Updated March 7, 2021

St. Patrick’s Day is such a fun day and a great opportunity to embrace our Irish roots (or at least pretend we have some Irish roots). It also means that I get to do this fun St. Patrick’s Day handprint craft with my kids!

With four children who are growing way too fast, I love making crafts that allow us to look back at how small they were. Handprint crafts are one of my favorite things to make. This year for St. Patrick’s Day I found some great ideas on Pinterest. I can guarantee at least a few “Pinterest Fails,” but maybe we will get lucky and have a few successes.

I found this fun craft on and decided to give it a whirl.

How-To Make A St. Patrick’s Day Handprint Craft

To start, we got craft paint in red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. I painted a thin stripe of each color on my kids hands and then carefully stamped them on our paper. This makes the rainbow leading to your pot of gold.

To make the pot of gold I cut out a pot shape out of black paper. I used a large vitamin bottle to help make the circle shape that would be big enough to go with the hands. I glued it just under the hand print and left enough room to add the gold coins.

Using a circle punch, I made “gold coins” and let the kids stick them on the page themselves. Can you tell the difference between the toddlers’ and the big kids’?

I think these were a lot of fun to make and I love that in 10 years I can pull them out and let the kids see how much bigger their hands are.

I hope you get a chance to do a fun craft with your kiddos on St. Patrick’s Day.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
