Things to Keep in the New Normal

Unprecedented. Historic. The “new normal”.

Most overused terms in the past year? Yes. Accurate description of our lives? Also, yes! COVID-19, our political landscape, economic uncertainty, and racial reckoning . . . it’s pretty heavy stuff.

I’ve never been one to say, “I feel so #blessed to have lived through [insert life event here] because it taught me [insert virtuous lesson here]”, but I have to admit that there are some positive things I’ve learned and new habits I’ve adopted.

While we are certainly not back to “normal” yet, breakthroughs like the vaccine and remaining steadfast with masking and socially distant behavior gives me hope. Now is a great time to reflect on those lessons, habits, discoveries, and revelations we’ve had while living through a global pandemic.

Sherri
Sherri is a transplant from Oregon who came to be a Hawkeye in 2006 and stayed for the sweet corn...and for the Iowa boy she met along the way!
